Budget Accommodation Isle of Ulva Scotland

Budget Accommodation Isle of Ulva Scotland.

The Bothy on the Isle of Ulva off the West coast of Scotland is the ultimate in Budget Accommodation, away from it all, holidays.

You'll have to walk about 5km to reach it but once there it is the idyllic spot for a restful holiday. It is popular with sea kayak paddlers who can use it as a base to explore the extensive islands including Staffa with Fingals cave.

I've stayed there on three different trips, all of which were memorable for different reasons - catching mackerel, picking shellfish, viewing sea otters, climbing the Marylins on Ulva and Gometra, the neighbouring island which can be reached by a bridge. It really is a place to wind down and forget about modern life.

The Bothy itself is upmarket with a cooker, stove and even a shower. It can be rented out by contacting the owner of the Island, Jamie Howard, a very pleasant and thoroughly nice man!
